About the role

The Coating Operator is primarily responsible for the setup, operation, trouble shooting, teardown and cleaning of our liquid coating systems, which apply various edible coatings to the exterior of food products. Because Kerry does not produce coated product every day, this position is required to be cross-trained into Extrusion and often into Blending and the mill room.

Key responsibilities

  • Sets up coating equipment such as blend kettles, pumps, and coating reels.
  • Measure and combine blend ingredients.
  • Operate coating systems including record keeping, basic product quality tests, trouble-shooting, and monitoring the flow of raw material inputs.
  • Assist with detailed cleaning activities in Processing as well as other areas of plant on a regular basis. This can occasionally mean entire shifts of cleaning duties.
  • Deliver a clean, well-ordered work area to oncoming replacement.
  • Take reading off gauges, dials, and computer displays and makes necessary adjustments and communications.
  • Shut down machinery.
  • Tear down and clean machinery.

Qualifications and skills

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Must pass a timed basic math skills test without the aid of a calculator.
  • Must be able to tolerate the above-listed physical and environmental demands of this position with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written form.
  • Must have some work experience doing heavy manual labor within the last 5 years.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
